ABOUT CHARLIE HALL
Charlie Hall graduated RISD in 1978 with a BFA in Illustration. Besides playing goalie for the hockey team, the Nads, for 4 years, he also developed into quite the class clown and parlayed that into a career in stand-up comedy after leaving RISD. But he did not give up art.
In 1979, Charlie became RI's only courtroom artist, sketching the newsworthy trials for all local and several national outlets like NBC and CNN. He has also been the political cartoonist for the many papers of the Rhode Island Newsgroup, and his cartoons can also be seen in the Providence Journal occasionally too. Dozens of his cartoons have been showcased in the annual BEST EDITORIAL CARTOONS OF THE YEAR for 10 years in a row. Charlie is also the publisher of 2 cartoon books of his own on life and politics in RI called HOT SKETCH, and HOT SKETCH 2.
In 2013 he started a successful paint and wine company called Drink and Dabble that ran for 4 years which received a BEST OF award from RI Monthly Magazine.
In 2016 Charlie created a LOL adult coloring book based on the Trump/Clinton race called ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION replete with funny verse accompanying the drawings. It was an Amazon Bestseller in its category and was featured on CNN and Parade Magazine.
Charlie was one of the few artists asked to paint portraits of kids for the Rare Disease Foundation as part of their continuing art exhibition that has been touring around the world to bring attention to tragedy of the many youngsters afflicted with one of these rare maladies.
In 2017, Charlie founded and was named honorary chairman of the 1st annual North Providence Art Fest (Art in the Park)- which is continuing in his hometown. Also that year, he was asked to jury an exhibition for the prestigious Wickford Art Assoc. A few months later Charlie entered a piece into their “Abstract Painting exhibition” and to his surprise took 2nd place. (This year they've asked Charlie to judge their “Art of the Ocean State” show in June 2019.

Now, If this all weren't enough, in 1995 Charlie penned the words for a song called "Rhode Island’s It For Me" that is now the official state song of RI.
